29 Sept - 2 Oct 2025 (10 participants max)
INTRODUCTION
Join us in capturing one of Tamil Nadu’s most intense and visually rich festivals — the Kulasai Dussehra, held in the coastal village of Kulasekharapatnam (Kulasai). Unlike the traditional North Indian Dussehra, here thousands of devotees transform themselves into fierce mythical characters — from Kali and Shiva to ghosts and demons — through elaborate costumes, face paint, and ritualistic devotion.
This 10-day festival culminates with a grand procession to the Mutharamman temple, where emotions, trance, and traditions collide in an explosion of color, energy, and spirituality. It’s a dream location for documentary and street photographers, offering an opportunity to witness faith in its raw, unfiltered form.
Be ready to immerse yourself in the chaos, rhythm, and sheer visual power of one of South India’s most dramatic cultural events.
This is a Street Photography Workshop mentored by Suresh Naganathan and Sreeranj Sreedhar where you will be learning our approach on this genre that includes online sessions and on ground guidance and review. Mentors will walk with you during the events and guide you what to focus and how to approach a scene.
