The Kuthira Vela or festivals of horse motif effigies is seen around Palakkad and Thrissur districts of Kerala. Mostly conducted in temples around the paddy fields, during this day different near by deshams or villages around the temple bring their horse effigies to the temple and compete with other villages. The most famous among this festival is Machadu Mamangam. The images captured in this series is from 3 main festivals at Machadu Mamangam, Mangadu and Velur in Thrissur.
